The EFIE connects to your oxygen sensor (O2 sensor). It's designed to make sure your hydrogen generator is doing what it is supposed to do, saving you gas, because the Efie adjusts the signal that is sent to your car's computer about oxygen. Otherwise more fuel would be delivered and you wouldn't save any money at all.
Here are some of the Efie circuits and kits that you can buy on Ebay, but be sure to continue reading our article to learn how this all works together.
How the Electronic Fuel Injection Enhancer Works
EFIE solves this problem by allowing you to apply an offset to the voltage at the oxygen sensors, so that your vehicle’s computer remains unaware of the fact that the oxygen content in the exhaust has increased and works normally according to the right data. EFIE device should only be used by the oxygen sensors in front of the catalytic converter because the behind ones are there for the surety that the front ones are doing their job.
EFIE enhancers add more voltage to the sensor’s output to compensate for the extra oxygen present in the exhaust. It inserts a floating voltage more than whatever the oxygen sensor is giving out. These enhancers have an adjustment which allows one to control within some mill volts to the amount of inserted voltage. This process makes the computer unaware of the additional oxygen content in the exhaust.
How to read your EFIE
EFIE has two testing ports in which you can plug in the leads of a multimeter. Generally they are red and black in color and one should plug in the leads in the same color. Once the leads are into the testing ports, you can read the offset voltage that is produced by EFIE. This is the voltage that the EFIE is adding to the output of the oxygen sensor. If the EFIE is turned off then the sensor gets directly connected to the computer and the EFIE has no effect on the process. One can also check the voltage of oxygen sensor by putting the red lead of the meter into the EFIE’s black testing port and the black meter lead into the vehicle’s ground.
Problems of EFIE
Running your HHO gas engine without warming it is the main reason behind the cause of EFIE problems. If the sensor enhancer resistor setting is made too high resulting the average voltage setting of the oxygen sensor to increase resulting open loop conditions, there are also chances to have serious changes in the fuel mixture.
The main problem that is witnessed with EFIE is during its start ups. Unless you have your EFIE nicely warmed up it will run rough. It can however be avoided by putting a toggle switch to control when to apply the EFIE.
With simple installing facilities you can easily find a range of EFIE enhancers that will suit your vehicle. These Ebay listing will help you find exactly what you need.
